Empowering Women, Environment
$25,000 Goal
Summary of the Situation
The sisters are currently piloting organic farming agriculture and lack the resources to improve the program, so it impacts more people in their mission stations, where there is a need for food and environmental care.
How will the funds be used?
The funds will be used to train local farmers on sustainable farming methods. The sisters will engage skilled experts and practitioners to train and also do mentorship follow-ups to support the farmers in practicing the skills they will have learned. This will help achieve food security objectives, healthier food consumption, and Environmental Justice through improved soil and water management and tree planting.
The Sisters’s Response
Systemic Impact
Enhanced Agricultural Productivity: Training the target farmers in organic farming methods will improve soil health and pest management and increase crop yields. By adopting practices such as crop rotation, composting, and organic pest control, farmers will increase their productivity while maintaining ecological balance. Skill training will foster a sense of community among farmers, and a collective approach will enhance food security and promote sustainable development in the region.
