Emergency Food Assistance for Children Living with AIDS: Due to Aid Withdrawal

The withdrawal of aid by former President Trump has had a devastating impact on children living with AIDS in Bukomansimbi District, Uganda. With the sudden loss of funding, many organizations that once provided essential services, including food assistance, have been forced to reduce or shut down their programs. As a result, vulnerable children face severe food insecurity, malnutrition, and declining health.

This project seeks to provide emergency food assistance to ensure that these children receive the vital nutrients they need to maintain their health and well-being during this crisis.

Severe Funding Gap – The abrupt loss of aid has left a significant funding shortfall, jeopardizing the well-being of children living with AIDS.

Rising Food Insecurity – Malnutrition and health complications are increasing due to a lack of access to nutritious food.

Struggling Households – Families caring for children with AIDS are unable to cope with the loss of assistance, making them even more vulnerable.

Urgent Need:

To address these urgent challenges, we propose the following interventions:

  1. Emergency Food Packages – Distribute nutritious food packages to 264 children living with AIDS to help prevent malnutrition and support their health.
  2. Food Vouchers & Cash Transfers – Provide 88 vulnerable households with food vouchers and direct cash transfers, empowering them to purchase essential food items.
  3. Nutrition Counseling & Education – Offer training to caregivers on preparing nutritious, affordable local meals, ensuring long-term food security for affected children.

Funds Needed:

$23,456.00 USD to serve 264 people

Emergency Impact:

By implementing this initiative, we will:
✅ Prevent malnutrition and related health complications among vulnerable children.
✅ Empower households to meet their nutritional needs with dignity.
✅ Equip caregivers with the knowledge to sustain healthy feeding practices.

This emergency intervention is critical to safeguarding the lives of children living with AIDS in Bukomansimbi District. We urgently seek support to restore hope and ensure no child is left hungry in the wake of this funding crisis.

Thank you for your compassion and generosity.
