#129 – Educational Materials for Less Privileged Children

Summary of the Situation

Mariae College is a school that provides holistic education and entrepreneurial skill for a meaningful life in the future. Some parents can’t afford to pay their children’s school fees; some want to opt-out, making the work difficult. We want the best for them because education is the best gift we can offer to these children. We want to equip the school library with books and the school with desktops for effective teaching and learning. Those who can’t afford to buy books can go to the school library to read. It will reduce the cost of education for them.

How will the funds be used?

$1,600 will be used to equip the Library with books.
$ 3,400 will be used to provide 20 desktops for effective teaching and learning.

The Sisters’s Response

The sisters are passionate about providing education to these children. This is a precious gift we can offer them, but we need help to give them the best. We are sourcing funds to keep running the school.

Systemic Impact

Significant gender inequality exists in Nigeria, where girls are much less frequently educated than boys.
Many parents cannot afford tuition and book fees to send their children to school. The sisters struggle to provide quality education to these students with minimal funding.
