Ghana
Empowering Women, Job Training
$15,000 Goal
Summary of the Situation
Ghana is rich in culture and potential, yet many young women—especially from the north—face limited opportunities, poverty, and exploitation. In search of a better life, some migrate to cities like Kumasi but end up trapped in harsh conditions, often lacking shelter, food, and job prospects. Many are survivors of trafficking, abuse, or forced marriage. Aged 15–25, these young women are often from rural areas with little education or support.
Through our partnership with Safe-Child Advocacy, we provide these women a path forward—offering a safe space, basic needs, and vocational training. Our aim is to help them recover, grow, and build independent lives.
How will the funds be used?
1. Meeting Basic Needs
-
Food & Shelter: Daily meals, clothing, safe housing, and toiletries to restore dignity and stability.
-
Oven for Bread: To reduce food costs by baking bread onsite.
-
Cosmetic Materials: For making soaps and creams in-house, reducing expenses and teaching skills.
2. Agricultural Initiatives
-
Poultry & Piggery Farms: Serve as both training grounds and income sources.
-
Improvements: Upgraded flooring and drainage for hygiene and productivity.
The Sisters’s Response
Our center offers practical training in:
-
Dressmaking: Tailoring with Ghanaian fabrics like Kente to produce garments and souvenirs.
-
Hairdressing: Braiding, cutting, and styling for cultural and economic value.
-
Cosmetic Production: Making soaps, perfumes, and shampoos for income and hygiene.
-
Agriculture: Poultry and piggery training for food security and livelihood.
These programs help young women build careers, launch businesses, and inspire change in their communities.
Systemic Impact
The challenges these young women face—parental loss, broken homes, neglect, poverty, and cultural bias—leave them vulnerable to exploitation. Many are denied education and pushed into early marriage or labor. In urban areas, their struggles often worsen, with trafficking and abuse adding to their hardship.
Without intervention, an entire generation risks being lost. But with support, these resilient young women can transform their futures. Our program gives them not just relief—but the tools for lasting independence and dignity.
