Project Update–Tacna Peru: “During this critical time, many families are in crisis.”
In Peru people are “sheltering in place” which means our school which is a lifeline to so many, is closed. For these children, online learning is not an option. The only access they have to computers is in school. The government is now holding school through the radio and television.
During this critical time, many families are in crisis, without adequate food, facing weeks of no income. Although our psychologists (funded through Sisters Rising Worldwide) cannot do home visits or in-person counseling sessions, they are working with those clients who have access to a phoneline or a cell phone to help them cope with the stress and obtain needed resources. This essential level of support is helping these vulnerable families through trying times.
