Crisis Alerts

Secure food materials, mosquito nets and seeds for cultivation

Uganda is among the poorest in the world and continues to face severe challenges, including natural disasters and rebel attacks from groups based in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). These crises have left our communities in desperate need of assistance.

Devastating Floods and Cholera Outbreak

Last year, severe flooding in Kabale submerged villages and farmland, displacing thousands of families. Since February, approximately 1.4 million people across 22 counties and the Rubanda Administrative Area remain affected. The situation is particularly dire in:

  • Upper Ndorwa County – Over 32,000 flood-affected people.
  • Bubale County – More than 6,000 people impacted.
  • Ngoma and Kisolo Counties – A surge in cholera cases due to contaminated water inflows from the DRC.

As of February 11, 2025, suspected cholera cases have reached 18,304, with 501 deaths and a case fatality rate (CFR) of 1.5%. The most affected are children, with 32.5% of cases in those aged 0–4 years and 22.8% in those aged 5–14 years.

Rebel Attacks and Food Shortages

The Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels, operating from forests in the DRC, continue to attack our villages, disrupt food supplies, and loot essential goods.

  • Markets are empty, and basic food staples like sorghum are scarce.
  • Malnutrition is worsening, affecting tens of thousands of children in Kabale, with numbers expected to rise due to displacement and economic instability.
  • Children’s immune systems are weakening, making them more vulnerable to malaria, measles, cholera, and respiratory infections.

Urgent Needs:

To help our communities recover, we urgently request assistance to provide the following essential supplies:

  1. Mosquito Nets – 3,800 Pieces ($3 per net) → To prevent malaria in flood-affected areas.
  2. Emergency Food SuppliesSorghum, Millet, Rice, and Maize Flour to feed displaced families.
  3. Seeds for CultivationAs the planting season begins in April, these seeds will help families regain self-sufficiency.

Funding Goal:

$38,500 USD serving 1245 people.

Emergency Impact:

Your generosity will restore hope and provide immediate relief to those who have lost everything. Thank you for your compassion and support.
