Sisters Rising Worldwide: Q1 2025 Impact Report
Our latest Impact Report highlights a season filled with significant achievements and unwavering dedication to addressing the root causes of injustice worldwide.
Assam is currently facing its second spell of severe flooding since June 20th, following the first spell in late May 2024. Continuous heavy rains have intensified the situation, causing widespread devastation in the Cachar districts, especially in villages near the Bangladesh border. Floodwaters have reached up to 10 feet, leading to severe waterlogging and slow drainage due to the overflow of the Barak River. This Assam flooding has caused significant disruption and hardship for the affected communities.
The flooding has displaced thousands of people, submerged their homes, and destroyed their livelihoods. Marginalized communities, including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Castes, are the most affected. They are already vulnerable due to poor economic conditions and social exclusion. These communities, living in mud and thatched houses, now face severe food and water shortages with limited access to government aid.
The affected communities urgently need your support. Your donation can provide essential food, clean water, hygiene supplies, and emergency shelter to 6,500 people in dire need. Together, we can help these vulnerable families survive this crisis and start rebuilding their lives.
