Delivering Quality Healthcare Close to Home

When the X-Ray machine at San Martín de Porres Dominican Hospital Center in Cameroon broke down, thousands of patients in need of diagnosis and treatment who couldn’t afford treatment at public hospitals were stranded without care.

In need of a replacement, Sr. Cristina turned to Sisters Rising Worldwide, and thanks to our generous donors, a new x-ray machine arrived at San Martin de Porres. “Receiving the new machine has been a breath of fresh air,” Sr. Cristina reports. In just 6 months, over 7,800 x-rays were performed, enabling proper diagnosis and treatment for patients who otherwise could not afford care. “Many individuals and families benefit every day from this service, allowing them to live in health.”

My child is being treated in pediatrics at the Dominican Hospital Centre Saint Martin de Porres. Before the acquisition of the radiology machine, every suspicion of serious illness was a source of fear, because it was necessary to find another center for the examinations.

Thanks to the new machine, my child was able to have an X-ray immediately. The diagnosis was made without delay, and treatment began the same day. This prevented complications and a great deal of suffering.
