In Palestine, children with disabilities are often abandoned due to the inability of their parents to care for them. Many of these children require total care including feeding, clothing, changing and constant supervision as well as frequent medical treatments. Without assistance, those suffering from psychiatric disorders often put themselves or others in danger of physical harm.

In response, the Sisters of the Incarnate Word opened Hogar Ninos Dios, a home for abandoned children with disabilities. Sisters oversee every aspect of care at the home. "We provide not only the basics such as food, clothing and a home for these children but also an education, medical treatment and different therapies to improve their quality of life," Sr. Maria of Hogar Ninos Dios shares.

The Sisters and staff work tirelessly to provide a loving home to the 36 children and adults in their care, and they depend entirely on charitable donations to cover daily operating costs. Thanks to our donors, a grant from SRW provided Hogar Ninos Dios with funds to cover 6 months of medical treatments for residents, including medications and doctor visits. Without these essential treatments, basic activities like eating or sitting in a chair would be painful and sometimes impossible for those in the Sister’s care.

Sr. Maria sends her profound thanks to our donors for empowering the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and strengthening their mission. “We want to give the love of Christ to those who the world rejects. Thanks to you, our children have a safe place to call home, where they can live a life of dignity.”
