Our story

Our story begins with women who never turn away from need. Catholic Sisters have quietly led some of the world’s most effective movements for education, healthcare, and human dignity. Sisters Rising Worldwide was created to connect their work, amplify their impact, and unite people everywhere who believe compassion can change the world.

Our Mission

To connect and support Catholic Sisters addressing the root causes of injustice, empowering them through storytelling and resources to create lasting change.
"Sisters carry hope to the world’s frontlines—healing the sick, educating children, empowering the marginalized, and defending human dignity. Sisters Rising Worldwide strengthens that hope by connecting their work, sharing their stories, and linking them to the resources they need. Together, we’re building a global network of compassion and solutions—proof that when love is organized, it can change the world."

Healthcare

Sisters bring lifesaving healthcare where others will not—running hospitals and clinics, delivering babies, performing surgeries, and bringing medicine to remote villages. With solar power to keep operating rooms running, ambulances to reach the most vulnerable, and outreach that carries care beyond clinic walls, they save lives with compassion and expertise. The scale of the challenge makes their mission indispensable in a world where half the population still lacks essential healthcare, and millions die each year from preventable causes.

Education

Sisters open the doors of learning to those left behind by their government—building schools in these forgotten places, ensuring safe transport, and giving children the tools to thrive. With 244 million children still out of school, their leadership is nothing short of transformative.

Human Trafficking

Sisters fight modern slavery on the frontlines—rescuing vulnerable children, protecting high-risk girls, and mentoring those at risk of exploitation. They provide shelter, counseling, and real opportunities for freedom and dignity, while raising awareness that breaks cycles of abuse. This fight grows more urgent every year with 27.6 million people trapped in this $236 billion dollar modern day slavery industry.

Empowering Women

Sisters refuse to wait centuries for change. They challenge discriminatory laws, equip women with education and job skills, and provide real alternatives to child marriage - breaking cycles of poverty and opening doors to independence and dignity. For the 2.4 billion women still denied equal economic rights and the 31% of girls in Sub-Saharan Africa forced into child marriage, Sisters transform despair into possibility.

Job Training

Sisters unlock futures by equipping women and youth with literacy, job skills, and financial training that lead to independence and lasting stability. They transform vulnerability into opportunity, breaking cycles of poverty and offering dignified alternatives to exploitation, early marriage, and despair. Their work meets a global crisiswhere three in four young people lack employment skills and 773 million adults—most of them women—still cannot read or write.

Environment

Sisters turn scarcity into sustainability—bringing clean water through boreholes and catchment systems, restoring soil to grow food, and teaching farming that protects both families and the planet. Their systemic solutions strengthen communities today and secure a healthier future. And this work is urgent, as one in three people still lack safe drinking water and nearly 900 million face severe food insecurity.

Migration

A record 304 million people are living as international migrants—nearly double the number from 25 years ago and representing 3.7% of the world’s population. Forced to move by war, natural disasters, and extreme poverty, migrants are among the most vulnerable to traffickers and exploitation. Religious Sisters meet them with compassion and care. They provide temporary housing, food, and basic healthcare while helping families adapt to new cultures and begin rebuilding their lives with dignity.

Domestic Violence

Sisters bring healing and hope by offering safe housing, healthcare, counseling, and essential services to those escaping domestic violence. Their work is especially vital when we consider that nearly one in three women worldwide have endured physical or sexual violence in their lifetime.
